Cheryl Coker case: Body camera footage shows mushroom hunter lead deputies to remains

GREENE COUNTY — Body camera footage obtained through a public records request by News Center 7 shows the moment deputies arrived to where a mushroom hunter found the remains of Cheryl Coker.

In the video, two deputies arrive on Waynesville Jamestown Road Saturday afternoon and meet with two men who walk the deputies to the wooded area.

“It actually appeared to me that the bones were wearing that piece of garment,” the mushroom hunter told deputies.

Just over a minute of the video was releasable, as the other parts of the video were redacted for investigatory purposes, according to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
