UPDATE: 1 flown to area hospital after crash involving 2 motorcycles north of Piqua

MIAMI COUNTY — UPDATE @ 12:25 p.m.:

The operator of one of the two motorcycles involved in a crash on Piqua Lockington Road was flown to an area hospital, according to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash was reported on Piqua Lockington Road near Landman Mill Road just before 11 a.m. Monday.

An initial investigation found a motorcyclist traveling north on Piqua Lockington Road attempted to turn left onto Landman Mill Road and crashed head-on with the motorcyclist traveling southbound.

The northbound-traveling motorcyclist, who was not identified, was flown to an area hospital by CareFlight medical helicopter with serious injuries. The second motorcyclist, also not identified, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Upper Valley Medical Center, deputies said.

Potential factors in the crash remain under investigation, deputies said.
