News Center 7 previously reported that people at Wentworth Hi-rise said it was cooler outside than in their apartments.
News Center 7’s Malik Patterson went inside the apartment complex and was immediately hit with heat.
Chris Champ lives on the top floor.
He said it was so hot in his apartment that he had to leave.
“It feels better outside than it do inside,” Champ said.
He has lived at Wenworth for almost three years and said he has never experienced heat like this.
He constantly checks his thermostat, but nothing changes.

News Center 7 reached out to Greater Dayton Premier Management about the lack of air conditioning Friday, but has not heard back.
Earlier this week, GDPM sent News Center 7 a statement that said in part, “The building’s central air conditioning system is still operational; it is unfortunately not able to perform at full capacity due to the extreme outdoor temperatures.”
Management did give residents a portable fan.
Even with the fans, Champ’s apartment was 91 degrees with 70% humidity.
“That means inside the apartment, it feels like 110 degrees,” Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Austin Chaney explained.
“You’re exposed to that amount of heat for several hours, then you’re talking about running the risk of heat stroke and heat exhaustion. You know, those can be pretty dangerous,” Chaney added.
CHamp said he has called the management company daily.
He also asked management to discount next month’s rent.
“Whatever it should be worth,” Champ said. “I’m saying you don’t do people like this man.”
A premier management working on-site said he did not have a timeline for the fix.
We will continue to follow this story.
