ARC’s shelter has room to “humanely and safely” house 80 dogs at any given time, but as of this morning, they have 108 dogs in their care.

“If you are in a position to assist, we are in desperate need of adopters, fosters and rescues to help us, help these dogs,” the ARC said in a Facebook post.

As a result, the shelter has had to temporarily restrict impoundments to “those ordered by a judge or magistrate,” according to the post.

ARC will continue to provide their Lost and found services, scanning pets for microchips and offering supplies to assist citizens with a dog they have found and are providing temporary shelter while looking for an owner.

“Yesterday, 12 dogs left the ARC with their new families -- let’s keep it up and find good, loving homes for just as many (if not more!) pups today,” ARC said in their post.

The ARC is located at 6790 Webster St. in Dayton and is open for adoptions from 10 a.m. to 6 pm on weekdays. They are also open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday.

No appointment is necessary for adoptions. Adoptions are $20 and include:

  • spay/neuter surgery
  • initial vaccines including rabies
  • heartworm testing and treatment
  • Current year licenses and microchip
  • Access to free monthly training classes.

You can see the dogs currently available for adoption on this website.

If you are available to foster you can sign up here.

The ARC is also looking for donations of crates/kennels, leashes, collars, food bowls, food, and treats to help care for the dogs in their care.
