5-year-old child in serious condition after vehicle strikes and flees in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI — A child sustained serious injuries after a driver hit and fled the scene Saturday evening.

Cincinnati Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded to the 2800 block of Glenway Avenue at around 7:50 p.m. after reports of a serious injury crash, a spokesperson stated.

An unknown vehicle struck the 5-year-old child as he exited a 2006 GMC Sierra pickup truck and attempted to cross the street, the spokesperson said.

The driver reportedly did not stop and fled the scene.

The child was transported to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center by the Cincinnati Fire Department.

He is being treated for serious injuries.

“Speed and impairment as a factor are unknown at this time,” according to the spokesperson.
