2 men receive jail time for 2018 murder, robbery

DAYTON — Two Dayton men convicted of killing a Dayton man during a June 2018 robbery have been sentenced.

Carlos Blanton, 22, and Tylin Watson, 22, were sentenced Tuesday on counts related to the shooting death of 27-year-old Tevin Million during a robbery that happened in Dayton on June 11, 2018.

Police responded to the 2300 block of Newport Avenue in the early morning of June 11, 2018 after a 911 caller reported a shooting. Police found Million’s body and said he had been shot multiple times.

An investigation showed that both men planned to rob Million at gunpoint, according to Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr.

Blanton was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Blanton pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter and aggravated robbery in December 2021.

Watson pled guilty to counts of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated robbery in September 2021. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Watson was ordered to serve the sentencing consecutive to a 49 years-to-life sentence he received in August 2020 for an unrelated murder in Huber Heights.

In July 2019, D’Mariyan Glass, a third co-defendant, pled guilty to counts of involuntary manslaughter, aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence related to Million’s murder. A fourth co-defendant, Kalesha Whitner, was also indicted on multiple counts, including murder, aggravated robbery, felonious assault and other charges.

Heck said Glass and Whitner will be sentenced at a later date,
