UPDATE: Coroner ID’s Xenia woman found dead by student walking to school Tuesday

XENIA — UPDATE @ 8:40 a.m. (Jan 12):

The Greene County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman found dead by a student walking to school Tuesday morning.

Michelle R. Cash, 55, of Xenia, was identified as the woman found dead on Hollywood Boulevard near an electric substation, according to a coroner’s office spokesperson.

Cash’s cause of death has not been ruled and is still under investigation by the coroner’s office.

While her cause of death remains under investigation, detectives said there were no obvious signs of foul play and no criminal activity is currently suspected in her death, a Xenia police spokesperson said in a media release Wednesday morning.

Additional details were not released.

FIRST REPORT (Jan. 11):

Xenia police say they have launched a death investigation after a student walking to school discovered and reported a body near an electric substation.

Officers were called to the area of Hollywood Boulevard west of North Detroit Street shortly after 7:30 a.m.

Police confirmed a student was on their way to school and saw what they thought was a body. The student continued onto school before reporting it to school staff members who called police.

Xenia police confirmed a white woman in her 50s was found dead. The woman’s cause of death is under investigation, but police told News Center 7 that there were no obvious signs of foul play.
