The Sheetz located on Alex Road just off SR 725 in West Carrollton.
The new gas station opened at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Customers pulled up to fill up their gas tanks and head inside to see what it was all about.
Bobby Jarvis of Dayton stopped by the new Sheetz to fill up his gas tank and his belly this morning.
Jarvis said he liked the breakfast options offered at Sheetz.
6-year-old Owen stopped by to get a bright red slushie, but he told News Center 7’s Xavier Hershovitz that he also had his eye on the candy.
While many grabbed what they stopped in for, there also appeared to be a bit of confusion this morning.
“There seemed to be a little bit of confusion over like the opening day,” Noah Mask of West Carrollton said.
Mask got there early for the opening day festivities, only to find out they are tomorrow.
“Everyone seems a little confused,” Mask said.
News Center 7 received a press release from Sheetz that stated that the grand opening giveaways would be on Wednesday, June 4.
But there would be free soda and coffee available on Tuesday, June 3.
News Center 7 reached out to Sheetz to clarify when the free coffee and soda were available.
A spokesperson for Sheetz clarified that confusion was caused by a “brief miscommunication internally” that was resolved.
Free self-serve coffee and soda were offered for the entire day today, according to the spokesperson.
Opening hiccups aside, Mask said he was happy to see Sheetz in his neighborhood.
“I think it offers something that a lot of these other newer gas stations like Mecca-type places don’t have,” Mask said.
Right now, Sheetz is offering gas for $2.39 per gallon to get people to come out and try the new Sheetz.
