MIAMI TOWNSHIP — One person was shot near Austin Landing after a road rage incident on I-75 Monday evening, according to police.
Police told News Center 7′s Sean Cudahy that the road rage incident started on the I-75 exit ramp to Austin Boulevard.
“They got up at this exit then there was an altercation at the exit, a fight, then they got back in their cars," said Miami Twp. Police Sgt. Jay Phares.
The two then got back in their cars and drove down Austin Boulevard. The victim was then shot near Austin Landing around 7:15 p.m.
The victim was shot in the leg.
Blair Riese, who works at Austin Landing, said a coworker told her there was someone who had been shot and was laying in the median. She said it was a scary situation.
“If it can happen here, obviously it can happen anywhere ... I know I live in a little bubble where I feel like out here in the suburbs it doesn’t happen that much," she said.
The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital by a Miami Twp. officer.
No arrests have been made.
