A Dayton man who was robbed of his wallet and Nike shoes, then violently beaten to death as a bystander recording the attack on a cell phone, is finally seeing justice.
The man’s two attackers, one a teen at the time of the crime, were sentenced to 11 years in prison Thursday.
Harley Farrell, 25, and Darryl Ferguson, 18, were sentenced in the death of Ryan Adams, 35.
Adam was robbed and beaten and left for dead on Deeds Ave. in June 2014.
Adams spend months in a coma before succumbing to his injuries.
A third person charged in the crime, Crystal Bittner, was previously sentenced to probation.
Prosecutors say she discovered the beating video on a cell phone and tried to destroy evidence by smashing the phone.
Today’s sentences come after years of work on the case.
In November of 2014, Farrell agreed to cooperate with police and testify against Ferguson.
He pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, aggravated robbery,
felonious assault and tampering with evidence.
Ferguson was tried as an adult even though he was 17 at the time of the crime. Prosecutors cited his violent history. Ferguson was found guilty by the court of voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault.
