UPDATE @ 2:26 p.m. (Aug. 4)

Brandi Sise noticed that her daughter was in her bed at 2 a.m. Wednesday, according to a 9-1-1 call.

When she awoke at 9 a.m., Brandi Sise couldn’t find her daughter or her cat in the house, she told emergency dispatchers. She said on the call that she then went out to look for the girl after searching the house.

Witnesses reported seeing the girl in the driveway of the residence at 10 a.m. One of them called 9-1-1 about 1:20 p.m. after realizing the girl was missing.

“All I know is I went to use the bathroom and my daughter and my cat both went outside,” the mother said to dispatchers.

She said that she had no relatives or friends nearby whom the girl could have visited.

When asked by dispatchers why she had waited for several hours before calling deputies, the mother said her phone had been shut off and neighbors weren’t home.

“No neighbor was home except for a couple of them, and I don’t know them very well,” she said.

Brandi Sise became emotional and cried during the emergency call.

“I want my little girl back,” she said.

UPDATE @ 1:55 p.m. (Aug. 4)

Neighbors said when they heard about the child missing Wednesday afternoon in their mobile home community they scoured the area trying to help in the search.

“That baby could have been anywhere,” said neighbor Diane Massie.

Two creeks and an in-ground pool in the area concerned Massie, she said, and her grandchildren immediately went to make sure the child hadn’t fallen in the water.

Another neighbor was the one who suggested to look in the wooded area where the 4-year-old girl was found, Massie said, because the neighbor had once taken the child there.

“Children go where they know,” Massie said.

UPDATE @ 1:09 p.m. (Aug. 4)

The sister of Jorge Sise says this is all a misunderstanding.

Elizabeth Sise said the 4-year-old girl is “rambunctious” and managed to slip out of the home.

The two parents haven’t been found guilty on any charges, she said, and Jorge Sise is a hard-working father who loves his child.

UPDATE @ 12:31 p.m. (Aug. 4)

Deputy Jolene Irons said: “It was her voice and her screaming; I was relieved, a flood of emotion going on. I tried to stay calm for her. It was an emotional time for everyone on scene.”

Irons said as soon as she was able to hear the child yelling, she got excited they were closer to finding her.

“If the elements would have gotten to her it would have been horrible,” Irons said, adding the child was in a shaded area.

UPDATE @ 11:52 a.m. (Aug. 4)

The little girl was found screaming in a marsh with a heavily soiled diaper that may have been two days old. Sheriff Gene Kelly said, “everything was focused on finding this child yesterday.”

The body camera video and the conditions it showed is what led the sheriff’s office to filing the criminal charges. Kelly said this is an example of poor parenting.

The Sise’s home where the child lived was found in deplorable condition. The girl’s bedroom has the walls ripped out. “Unbelievable,” is how Deputy Jolene Irons described the conditions.

UPDATE @ 11:40 a.m. (Aug. 4)

Clark County Sheriff Gene Kelly said in a news conference immediately following the Sise’s court appearance, temperatures were over 90 degrees in the woods yesterday where the 4-year-old girl was found. Kelly said, “So many things could have happened and many times these cases end in a tragic situation.”

Deputy Jolene Irons found the child She was wearing a body camera which recorded the rescue and the conditions in which the little girl was found.

The child went missing from her home in Brookside Mobile Home before 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, said Clark County Sheriff Gene Kelly, but was not reported missing to authorities until after 1 p.m.

Deputies scoured a wooded area around the home and found the child, crying and without any shoes, Kelly said.
