Dayton man, 66, faces arraignment in alleged rape of child younger than 13

DAYTON — A 66-year-old Dayton man who is accused of raping a child younger than 13 is scheduled to be arraigned today.

Nathaniel L. Shropshire was indicted Tuesday on multiple sexual-related charges, including rape, kidnapping, gross sexual imposition and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, according to a Montgomery Count grand jury report.

The incident was alleged to have happened Dec. 3 in Dayton.

Shropshire’s accuser is a minor younger than 13, a detective wrote in a statement of facts filed in Dayton Municipal Court.

He has been held in the Montgomery County Jail since his Dec. 4 arrest.
