Accused Fifth Third Bank robber indicted

An accused bank robber was indicted today by a Montgomery County grand jury on a robbery charge.

Jason Humphrey, 26, has been jailed since his Aug. 26 arrest at Fifth Third Bank, 3408 Linden Ave. in Dayton.

Bond was set today at $100,000 for Jason Humphrey, the 26-year-old Fifth Third Bank robbery suspect, who pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in Dayton Municipal Court.

Humphrey, of Dayton, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of felony robbery Wednesday morning following his arrest at the bank, 3408 Linden Ave. Dayton police said he was wearing a mask when he robbed the bank, and that he dropped a bag of money after a dye pack exploded inside.

He is next scheduled to appear in court Friday, online court records show.

The same Fifth Third Bank branch at the Eastown Shopping Center was targeted twice this year by a convicted serial bank robber. Christina N. Porter, 32, of Dayton was sentenced to five years in prison in May for robbing the bank on Jan. 7 and again Jan. 22. She also was a suspect in bank robberies in Huber Heights and Franklin, police and prosecutors said.

Jason Humphrey, 26, has been identified as the suspect arrested Wednesday at the scene of a bank robbery at Fifth Third Bank on Linden Avenue.

Humphrey is in jail on charges of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, and parole violation.

UPDATE @ noon (Aug. 26)

A bank robbery suspect is in custody.

His identity and further details about the robbery at Fifth Third Bank on Linden Avenue were not immediately available. The suspect was seen in handcuffs on the scene and placed in the back of a Dayton police cruiser.

The Fifth Third Bank branch on Linden Avenue in Dayton was robbed this morning.

Officers were dispatched to the location, 3830 Linden Ave., around 9:30 a.m. on an alarm, according to dispatch records.
