Fire at vacant home considered suspicious

UPDATE @ 3:30 p.m.

District Chief David Wright, of Dayton Fire, said a Harrison Twp. fire crew was the first on scene to this fire at 5180 Frederick Pike. Heavy smoke was coming out of the rear of the home.

“The house is vacant and abandoned,” Wright said.

There are three engines and a ladder on scene, Wright said, and they are taking a defensive stance to fight the flames from outside.

Wright said no one was injured, and no one was believed to be inside the home. He said all utilities have been off for some time, so the fire is considered suspicious until the investigation is complete.
