2 Muncie residents arrested for theft in Mercer County

CELINA, Ohio — The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office announced on Monday the arrest of two people accused of breaking and entering and grand theft.

Sheriff Jeff Grey said an alarm went off around 11:57 p.m. on Nov. 25 at the Lefeld Implement business, which is located on St. Route 118 in Coldwater.

Deputies arrived and discovered a John Deer Gator (ATV) had been stolen. According to a release, Deputy Kyle Fink spotted a white truck with a flatbed trailer and a new John Deer Gator on it near State Route 219 and State Route 49.

Sheriff Grey said deputies were advised to be looking for a white truck pulling a trailer from a bulletin out of Decatur, Indiana.

Deputies Fink stopped the vehicle and confirmed that the Gator was taken from Lefeld Implement and also confirmed that the trailer was stolen out of Indiana.

The two suspects, Lee M. Patterson, 28, of Muncie, Indiana, and Stanley Justice Keeton, 37, of Muncie, were arrested and book into the Mercer County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

According to Sheriff Grey, there is evidence that many other thefts have also happened in jurisdictions in Ohio and Indiana.
