Coronavirus: Moraine reopening Payne fitness center on June 1

MORAINE — The fitness center within the Payne Recreation Center will reopen on June 1 with limited hours and access, City Manager Michael Davis said Wednesday.

The public access will be for current pass holders, with no drop-ins during the initial reopening. Members must practice social distancing guidelines and are encouraged to wear a mask or face covering when entering the building.

Operating hours will be 7 - 11 a.m. and 3 - 7 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday; closed Sunday.

Clients will have access to the weight room, cardio rooms and restrooms, but no access to the gym, indoor track, aerobics room or meeting, childcare and locker rooms.

Free Grab-and-Go Meals will be provided to anyone under the age of 18 on Mondays in June and July at the Payne center and the Gerhardt Civic Center. Sign up at the city’s website or call 937-535-1096 for more information.

Several scheduled events in June have been canceled, including:

  • Cardboard Boat Regatta
  • Bike Trail Clean-ups
  • July 4th fireworks festivities

The Gerhardt Civic Center, playgrounds, shelters houses and the skate park remain closed per directives from the governor’s office.

July events have yet to be determined.
