MIAMI VALLEY — Low humidity and increased winds Tuesday have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Red Flag Warning, which means the potential for wildfires is high today, including rapid spread.
The Red Flag Warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday night for the following counties:
Auglaize, Butler, Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Darke, Greene, Logan, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, Shelby, Warren, Wayne Co. IN
Today's fire danger will be followed later this week by an increased risk for storms. More detail on your forecast here.
Today's fire danger comes just a day after April which set records for being one of the coldest April's ever in the region.
Precautions to take during Red Flag Warning:
- Do not discard smoking material outside
- Avoid campfires, open flames outdoors
- Avoid welding or open torch activities near grass areas
- Be cautious using open combustion engines near dry grass
