SR 72 reopens in Clark Co. after dump truck overturns, loses gravel load; Impairment suspected

GREEN TWP., Clark County — UPDATE @ 11:15 a.m.:

State Route 72 has reopened near the Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport Friday morning following a lengthy clean-up caused by an overturned dump truck that lost a load of gravel, according to state troopers.

The crash was first reported on state Route 72 south of West Sparrow Road around 8:15 a.m. Friday.

The driver of the dump truck, who was not identified, was taken to Soin Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, state troopers told News Center 7.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation however state troopers believe impairment was a factor.

State Route 72 was shut down for hours while crews worked to remove the gravel. The roadway officially reopened just after 11 a.m., dispatchers with the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed.
