DAYTON — Former Dayton Flyers pitcher and Beavercreek High School graduate Mike Hauschild finally made his major league debut in Texas on Saturday night.
Hauschild came on in relief in the ninth inning with the Rangers trailing Oakland 5-1. He gave up a double on his very first pitch, then an RBI single to Marcus Semien.

Hauschild settled down to strike out Matt Joyce and get Ryon Healy to fly out to left field. He ended the inning by striking out Oakland clean-up hitter Khris Davis.
Hauschild was the last player on the Rangers roster to get into a game this season. His debut was the first time he had faced an opposing batter in 12 days.
Drafted in the 33rd round of the 2012 by the Astros, Hauschild was claimed by Texas in the rule 5 draft during the off-season. He has to remain on the Rangers major league roster all season or be offered back to Houston.
Hauschild, 27, is the sixth UD player to play Major League Baseball. The Houston Astros drafted him in the 33rd round in 2008.
Here’s the list of other UD players and the date of their debuts. The first two players on the list played for UD when it was known as St. Mary’s College:
• Biff Schlitzer (1908-14): April 17, 1908, with Philadelphia Athletics.
• Pat Hilly (1906-13): May 7, 1914, with Philadelphia Phillies.
• Gary Roggenburk (1959-62): April 20, 1963, with Minnesota Twins.
• Jerry Blevins (2007-17): Sept. 16, 2007, with Oakland A's.
• Craig Stammen (2009-17): May 21, 2009, with Washington Nationals.
This is the first time UD has had three players in the big leagues at the same time. Stammen, who had not pitched in the majors since April 2015, has two scoreless relief appearances for the San Diego Padres. Blevins has three scoreless relief appearances for the New York Mets.
