Five University of Dayton Flyer football players were named to the Pioneer Football League’s preseason all-conference team on Wednesday. The five players are running back Jake Chisholm, quarterback Jack Cook, safety Brandon Easterling, Flyer Zach Rumpke and kicker Sam Webster.

Chisholm earned first team all-PFL honors in 2019 leading FCS in all-purpose yards (204.3 yards a game) and ran over 1,100 yards to finish second the PFL in rushing (112.9 yards per game). He is also a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American and 2021 team captain.
Cook was named second team all-PFL in 2019 and enters this season as the active FCS leader in career passing efficiency (162.0). He completed less than 63 percent of his pass for 2,697 yards and a school record 33 touchdowns. Cook is also a team captain.
Easterling, from Fairborn, led FCS in solo tackles (7.5) and had nine total turnovers (six interceptions and three fumbles) to lead FCS football in 2019. Rumpke plays the Flyer position (UD’s hybrid safety/linebacker) for Dayton and was honorable mention all-PFL in 2019. He made the game clinching interception in the Flyers’ 2019 win over 14th-ranked Indiana State.
Sophomore kicker Sam Webster was Dayton’s top freshman in 2019 and named the PFL’s all second team. He made eight of nine field goals and 58 of 60 extra points.
UD went 8-3 overall and 6-2 in the PFL in 2019. They begin the 2021 season on September 4th hosting Robert Morris at Welcome Stadium. Kickoff is at noon on the home of the Flyers, 1290 and 95-7, WHIO. You can also hear the game here at WHIO.com.
