XENIA — In less than a year, the Xenia Fish Food Pantry doubled the amount of clients its serving. Despite the surge in COVID-19 cases, pantry workers in Greene County are trying to make sure those in need eat well at Thanksgiving.
When the COVID-19 pandemic began, the Xenia Fish Food Pantry was serving 600 families. Now that numbered has nearly doubled to 1,110.
“In the beginning they were unemployed,” says Gail Matson, President of the Xenia Fish Food Pantry. “Now we’re seeing people that are back to work part time, at a lower rate than they were normally.”
