MIAMI TWP., Montgomery County — Officers are investigating what they are calling a ‘suspicious death’ at a home on Vienna Parkway in Miami Twp.

Jack Gilbert, 80, was found dead inside a home in the 2100 block of Vienna Parkway around 8:20 a.m. Sunday.

A woman called 911 to say she came into the house and found her father dead and covered in blood on the floor from what appeared to her to be a gunshot wound. The daughter said she thought he may have shot himself.

An incident report lists the incident a homicide investigation, however the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has not released Gilbert’s cause and manner of death for the person found dead.

A search warrant for the home filed in Miamisburg Municipal Court has been sealed, according to the clerk of court.

The 911 caller also said it appeared the man’s truck was also missing and she also couldn’t find a gun.

“He has a gun case out, there’s no gun in it," the caller said. “I don’t even know where the truck is at or nothing.”

Police have released few details about the investigation.

“The scene has been processed for evidence and the detectives are investigating,” said Sgt. Jay Phares with Miami Twp. Police.
