University of Dayton students greet team to celebrate victory

Over 1000 University of Dayton students crowded the streets to celebrate the Flyers advancing to the Sweet 16. Fans waited outside until 3:20am to welcome the Flyers as they departed from the bus.

The Flyers defeated Syracuse 55-53 in a highly competitive contest.

Student Matthew Barrett said, "When my parents were here was the last time the Flyers made the Sweet 16. . . It was by far the best day being a University of Dayton Flyer."

The Flyers will make their first appearance in the Sweet 16 in 30 years. Senior Forward and Center Matt Kavanaugh said "It was a hard fought team game. . . It came down to the wire and we came away with the win."

The Flyers will play either Stanford or Kansas depending on the outcome of Sunday's game.

When asked about their upcoming competition, Kavanaugh said, "They're both really good teams, and we'll have to bring our "A" game just like we did today."
