LAS VEGAS — Investigators said a Las Vegas man attacked his wife and stabbed her 30 times after she asked him for a divorce.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department told The Associated Press that Clifford Jacobs, 60, is facing charges of attempted murder and domestic battery resulting in substantial bodily harm.
Jacobs told police that his wife, to whom he had been married 15 years, asked him for a divorce, and the next thing he remembered was running to the leasing office covered in her blood, according to a police report obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Officers applied tourniquets to the woman’s arms as they waited for paramedics, and doctors at the hospital where she was taken said she was stabbed approximately 30 times, the AP reported. Doctors said the victim has nerve damage to her face and neck.
Detectives found five kitchen knives and a pair of bloody scissors in the home, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. No witnesses saw the attack, but several people told officers they saw Jacobs running through the apartment complex, covered in blood, screaming “I stabbed her” and “I think I killed her,” the newspaper reported.
