HOUSTON — A Houston man attempting to stay warm in his van died when the vehicle caught on fire early Sunday, authorities said.
The man, who was in his mid-60s, died at around 6 a.m. CDT, KTRK-TV reported.
Firefighters with the Houston Fire Department said that an eyewitness observed a candle burning on the dashboard of the vehicle at about 10 p.m CST Saturday, the television station reported.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, the Houston Chronicle reported. Arson units have been called to investigate.
Temperatures in Houston dipped to 30 degrees overnight, according to the National Weather Service.
The van was parked in the driveway of a residence, KTRK reported. Authorities said the man knew the owner of the home and frequently parked in the driveway, where he would live, the television station reported.
