The little girl, named Royalty, suffered severe burns in the attack, WALA reported.

“19% of her head is burnt up,” Niktoria Lett, the child’s mother, told WALA. “And my baby just in the hospital fighting for her life.”

Officers said Eugene Sneed was out on bond for charges he shot at the girl’s mother when he poured boiling water down the child’s throat, injuring the baby’s throat, lungs and face, WKRG reported.

Lett told WALA that she left the house to go to an event on Sunday, and when she returned home she didn’t even recognize her own daughter.

“I get in the apartment and my whole baby’s face is just messed up,” Lett said. “I couldn’t even stand to look at her. I couldn’t even keep calm. I couldn’t even maintain my body, for real. So we rushed her to the hospital and from there, her injuries just started worsening.”

Documents obtained by WKRG indicate Sneed turned himself in to jail and was booked on charges of aggravated child abuse and domestic violence.

“Who would do something like this to an innocent baby? It’s not right,” Kiara Lett, the child’s aunt, told WALA. “That baby was there, she thought she was in a safe home with her father. It aint right what he did to our baby. He messed up our life with this, she was just an innocent child.”
