2nd person has died in Wagner Ford Road crash

UPDATE @ 8:55 p.m. (July 6): A second person has died in the two-vehicle entrapment accident at Wagner Ford Road and Chuck Wagner Lane on Tuesday night.

Shannon Hasty died this evening at Grandview Medical Center, according to a caller who claimed to be a family member. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has been notified of the death, an investigator said.

A ruling on the cause and manner of death is pending for Steven Russell, 42, the other fatality, the coroner’s investigator said.

A third person injured in the crash is said to remain in a hospital.

UPDATE @ 4:42 a.m. The Montgomery County Coroner's Office has identified the victim of a fatal crash on Wagner Ford Road as 42-year-old Steven D. Russell, of Huber Heights.

An autopsy is scheduled for later this morning.

Police have reopened the roadway following their investigation.

One person has been killed and two people have been taken to hospitals in a two-vehicle entrapment crash in the area of Wagner Ford Road and Chuck Wagner Lane, near the Kittyhawk Golf Course.

A Dayton police sergeant tells us the deceased victim is believed to be a male. The crash was first reported around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, and a Montgomery County Coroner’s investigator is on scene.

Wagner Ford Road has been closed to traffic in both directions while a Dayton Police Department Traffic Services Unit team reconstructs the accident.

Wagner Ford is expected to be closed three to four hours, according to the sergeant, who said it is too early to say whether speed or alcohol are factors.

Crews are responding to a crash at Wagner Ford Road and Chuck Wagner Lane with passengers potentially trapped in a car, according to scanner traffic.

Initial reports indicate that Dayton EMS and Huber Heights Fire Department is on scene and requesting additional help.
