The initial call to dispatch came in around 2:26 p.m. Saturday afternoon for a welfare check at the 100 block of Brookside Drive, Salmeron told News Center 7′s Brandon Lewis on scene.
The caller stated they saw their spouse inside of the home with a gun through the house monitoring system.
Once crews arrived on scene, they found an individual that needed attention and immediately began attempting to resolve the matter peacefully, Salmeron reported.

Through de-escalation tactics and patience, the man peacefully surrendered to police seven hours after the initial call to dispatch, Salmeron said.
The man is currently in custody and being evaluated, Salmeron reported. Yellow Springs police are continuing to investigate inside of the home.
Salmeron encourages residents that are struggling, especially during the holidays, to take advantage of the Crisis Hotline by dialing 9-8-8.
“Holidays can be difficult for a lot of our neighbors, so if you have friends or neighbors that need assistance don’t hesitate to reach out,” Salmeron told News Center 7. “If you yourself are suffering any personal crisis or need to reach out to somebody, call the crisis helpline.”
