U.S. Marshals deputy shot, suspect dead in Columbus neighborhood

COLUMBUS — A deputy from the U.S. Marshal Service was shot and a suspect later died after suffering critical injuries during an investigation in a Columbus neighborhood Wednesday morning, according to reports from our news partners at WBNS-TV in Columbus.

Around 9:15 a.m., Columbus police were notified of a federal agent being shot in the 2700 block of Four Seasons Drive, which is in the southeast portion of the city.

The U.S. Marshal was taken to a hospital in stable condition, the station reports. The suspect was taken to a separate hospital with critical injuries but was later pronounced dead, according to the station.

Circumstances surrounding the shooting and what led to a suspect being injured were not immediately known.

Several agencies have responded to the investigation, which is being led by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has also been requested to the scene.
