CINCINNATI — A Frontier Airlines flight flying out of Cincinnati made an emergency landing in Atlanta Friday night, according to our news partner WCPO in Cincinnati.

Flight 1761 was heading to Tampa, Florida before it was diverted to Atlanta after it was discovered a passenger snuck a box cutter onboard, said Patricia Mancha, TSA spokesperson.

“The aircraft landed safely in Atlanta and the passenger in question was taken into custody by Atlanta enforcement,” Frontier airlines said in a statement.

A search of the suspect and his belongings found a second box cutter in his carry-on, Mancha said.

No passengers or crew members were injured, WCPO reports.

Police nor TSA have not identified the name of the passenger, according to WCPO.

Blades and box cutters are prohibited in the cabin but they are allowed in checked luggage, according to TSA’s website.

“TSA takes its role in transportation security very seriously,” Mancha said. “The situation with the Frontier flight is under investigation with the US Attorney’s Office, as they are the lead federal agency in this matter.”
