Indiana duo arrested after pursuit crosses state line, ends in crash in Darke County

GREENVILLE TWP. — A man and woman from Indiana were arrested after leading police on a pursuit that started in Randolph County, Indiana, and ended in a crash in Darke County Wednesday night, according to deputies.

Charles Keller, 53, and Devan Phillips, 30, both of Anderson, Indiana, were taken into custody after the pursuit ended in the area of U.S. 36 and U.S. 127, deputies said in a media release.

Keller is accused of being the driver of a U-Haul van that led officers on a pursuit starting in Indiana and crossed over into Ohio, according to the sheriff’s office.

As the pursuit continued east into Darke County, the van crashed into a stopped truck on U.S. 127, which ended the pursuit.

Both Keller and Phillips were initially transported to Wayne HealthCare in Greenville but were treated and released back into police custody. The driver of the vehicle hit in the pursuit and a passenger were not injured.

Keller was booked into the Darke County Jail on felony charges stemming from the incident, deputies said. Phillips was also booked into the jail for outstanding warrants for his arrest.
