Ohio Election 2020: Trump, Biden easily take presidential primary, school levy results in

Donald Trump and Joe Biden were called early as the presidential primary winners, a mere 30 minutes or so following the close of Ohio’s unprecedented primary day.

Due to social distancing concerns, no traditional in-person voting occurred in the state. All voting was conducted via absentee ballot, with only some special cases made by the various Board of Elections.

Results in close races may change, as mail-in ballots may still come in over the next several days.

School levy results are beginning to roll in for various districts, with a 5.7 mill levy for Bellbrook-Sugarcreek district appearing to fail.

Gov. DeWine’s daughter Alice DeWine lost the Greene Co. prosecutor’s race against David Hayes.

State Representative Niraj Antani won the Republican nomination in the State Senate primary to replace Peggy Lehner. He won the three-way race with 64 percent of the vote against Rachel Selby and Greg Robinson.

Willis Blackshear Jr. easily won the race to replace former House Minority Leader Fred Strahorn for the House 39th District seat. The move ends a four-year run as leader for Strahorn, D-Dayton, who oversaw a difficult 2016 election but rebounded in 2018.
