Man apparently drove vehicle into Armco Park lake

The body of a 58-year-old Middletown man was pulled from the lake at Armco Park Sunday after he apparently drove his truck intentionally into the water, according to the Warren County Coroner’s office.

According to authorities, the man, Joseph Chaney, 58, called his family about 2 p.m. and said he was “going to end it.”

A 911 call from Armco Park at 2:16 p.m. indicated that a man had driven his truck into the lake. Dive teams were dispatched to the lake on Ohio 741 near the Warren County Airport to attempt a rescue.

A tow truck removed a vehicle submerged in the water, according to police scanner traffic.

The preliminary investigation indicates a man committed suicide by driving a vehicle into the lake, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

Divers deployed a rescue boat in an effort to recover the body.

Dive teams are responding to a possible drowning at Armco Park’s lake on Ohio 741 in Warren County.

The call for service was made at approximately 2:25 p.m.

The Warren County Dispatch Center confirmed crews were called to the location on an active investigation.

Scanner traffic indicated a tow truck was requested as well because a vehicle was submerged in the lake.
