SPRINGFIELD TWP., Clark County — A worker at Duncan Oil in Springfield Twp. was injured and flown to a Dayton hospital after an explosion at the business early Thursday morning, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and fire crews were called to the business in the 2800 block of East Leffel Lane around 7 a.m. after the explosion was reported.

A preliminary investigation found a worker was fueling up a truck for routes today when the explosion happened. The source and cause of explosion was unknown and under investigation, deputies said.

The force of the explosion threw the worker away from the truck and injured him. He was flown to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment of burns and other injuries, deputies said. The condition of the victim was not known.

East Leffel Lane will be shut down until about noon while the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency responds to the scene and investigates.
