DAYTON — Gas prices have to started to fall as we get closer to the July 4th holiday after reaching $5 a gallon last month, AAA says.
“You’ve got to sacrifice some things to put gas in the car to make it to work,” one driver told News Center 7′s Dontre Drexelius Monday. “These gas prices are crazy.”
With gas below $5 a gallon, some drivers are scrambling to fill up before prices go back up.
“When demand is up and supply is down, then we see prices being impacted,” said Kara Hitchens of AAA Miami Valley. “Because oil prices are down, the demand is up, it’s hard to know what’s going to happen throughout the week.”

Drivers are seeing a decrease of almost forty-seven cents from this time last month.
“I drive as moderately as I can,” another unidentified driver said. “Obey the speed limit and make my gas go as far as it’ll go.”
President Biden wants Congress to suspend the gas tax for three months.
