DAYTON — After some rain earlier this week, the pollen count has risen thanks to warm and dry afternoons. Currently, tree and grass pollen are in the “very high” category, with weed pollen remaining “high.”
Mold pollen is currently zero, but the highest culprits for the pollen counts are mulberry, pine, maple, and Poaceae, according to the RAPCA sensor.
For pollen to come down and give us temporary relief, we could use rain. Often in the Spring months when pollen counts are knocked down briefly to rain, they rapidly rise again upon drug weather returning. As trees, flowers, grasses, and other plants continue to bloom and grow quickly, pollen counts will continue to remain high for a while.
Rain chances are greater for Saturday night and again Tuesday and Wednesday next week. In between, pollen counts are likely to remain high entering the first week of June.
