UPDATE @ 2:30 p.m.:
Students have returned to class, according to a the districts Facebook page. The post reads:
“Our middle school students have returned to school and are back in class. We would like to thank our local law enforcement, our students and staff for their cooperation. This would also include the high school students and staff for helping to accommodate (and feed) our middle schoolers. We would also like to thank our parents and community for their cooperation and patience.”
FIRST REPORT:
Wapakoneta City Schools confirmed a bomb threat at their middle school in a Facebook post to parents. The post reads:
“This morning there was a threat of a bomb at Wapak Middle School. The students have been transported to an alternate location while the building is being checked by local law enforcement. We ask that you do not pick up your children from school as we anticipate returning to school as soon as Law Enforcement has determined it to be safe.”
The Wapakoneta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol was on scene to help with traffic control as the school was being evacuated. However, troopers have left the scene, officials said.
