Volunteers make, deliver 1,300 free Christmas meals across Miami County

TROY — A longtime tradition continued in Miami County, with the delivery of 1,300 free Christmas dinners to the homes of shut-ins, the sick and families in need.

The dinners of ham, green beans, mashed potatoes, a dinner roll and slice of apple pie came from St. Patrick’s Soup kitchen.

“Well, it takes a village. There’s probably close to a hundred volunteers here today and we need every single one of them with over 1,300 meals being delivered to people’s doors,” Deb Grant of St. Patrick’s Soup Kitchen said. “It’s a blessing. We are grateful for all of the help.”

About 100 volunteers gave up part of their Christmas Day preparing the food and delivering the meals to all parts, and villages and cities, in Miami County.

Donations from individuals, businesses and corporate gifts again made these dinners possible.
