3 vehicles collide in Darke County head-on crash

UPDATE @ 5:57 p.m.:

Darke County sheriff’s deputy Mark Garbig said preliminary investigation shows a silver 2010 Dodge Journey driven by Gale A. Butt 44, of Piqua, was traveling west on U.S. 36 when she reportedly went left of center and struck a silver 2012 Jeep Liberty driven by Casey S. McGlothlin 22, of Greenville.

McGlothlin’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and came to rest in a ditch, Garbig said in a release.

Butt’s vehicle continued traveling west and struck another eastbound vehicle, a maroon 2005 Jeep Liberty, driven by Dylan S. Knoop, 19, of Greenville, Garbig said.

Knoop’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and also came to rest in a ditch.

Butt’s vehicle continued westbound and went off the left side of the roadway coming to a rest at the top of a hill.

Butt was taken to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton by a mobile intensive care unit after a medical helicopter was unable to land. Her condition is unknown but a hospital spokeswoman said she was in the emergency department being evaluated.

McGlothlin and his passenger, Brooke N. Harrison, 22, of Greenville were treated and released at the scene. Dylan Knoop was also treated and released from the scene, Garbig said.

The Darke County Sheriff’s Office, Gettysburg Fire and Rescue, Bradford Fire and Rescue, Greenville Twp. Rescue and CareFlight were all dispatched to this crash.

This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

UPDATE @ 3:29 p.m.:

A woman driving a silver SUV on U.S. 36 crossed the center line and struck a Jeep head-on this afternoon.

Medics transported the woman to Miami Valley Hospital aboard a mobile intensive care unit, but officials said her injuries were not believed to be life threatening, according to our partners at Bluebag Media.

The woman’s SUV hit a silver Jeep in the 8700 block of U.S. 36 and collided with another Jeep following the initial collision, Bluebag Media reported.

A man and woman in the silver Jeep were transported to Wayne Health Care in Greenville for treatment of their injuries.

A man in the second Jeep that was hit was not transported from the scene.

The contributing factors in the crash remains under investigation.

UPDATE @ 3:02 p.m.:

U.S. 36 has been closed as a result of a head-on crash involving three vehicles.

The crash is located in the 8700 block of U.S. 36 near Gettysburg.

INITIAL REPORT:

Emergency crews are responding to a reported serious crash in the 8700 block of U.S. 36 near Gettysburg.

Initial dispatch reports indicated three vehicles were reportedly involved and a mobile intensive care unit was requested to the scene.

The crash was reported around 2:45 p.m.
