Car reportedly fleeing a traffic stop crashes in Oakwood; 2 taken to hospital

UPDATE @ 8:01 p.m.: Two people have been taken to a hospital from a car that crashed on Far Hills Avenue (state Route 48) near Patterson Road after Oakwood police said it fled from a traffic stop.

The car was headed toward Dayton, said the police, who pulled up to the car to find it on its top.

Witnesses tell us they saw a man and a woman in the car, and police put handcuffs on the man. Both were taken to a hospital. Their conditions are not known.

Northbound 48 is open. Southbound 48 is closed until further notice.

INITIAL REPORT

A vehicle reportedly being pursued by police has flipped and come to rest on its top in the area of Far Hills Avenue (state Route 48) and Patterson Road.

The incident was dispatched just before 7:30 p.m.

A witness called our newsroom and said a police cruiser was pursuing a vehicle that hit a curb, turned over and came to rest on its top.

Police and a medic unit are on scene. We’re working to find out what happened.
