Forty years after graduation, the Trotwood-Madison class of 1975 came together again for a former classmate in need.
Former Ram Danny King’s troubles started when his mother passed away in June. He inherited her home and, with it, came severe disrepair, a hoarding issue and a bed bug infestation.
At a class reunion in September, King did something he describes as “very difficult:” He asked for help.
The response was overwhelming.
“We called a bunch of classmates,” said Carrie Taylor, who has spearheaded the project. “People have come out of the woodwork to help.”
Taylor said King “turned over his life” to his classmates, allowing them to carry item after item out of his home. All that is left inside, she said, is a recliner, a lamp and a television.
But that will soon change. In less than two weeks, King’s classmates raised more than $5,000 toward giving him a fresh start.
“Everyone’s done so much, given me so much,” King said. “My prayer is answered.”
The also group plans to create a fund to go toward helping future classmates in need.
