A junior from The Ohio State University men’s swimming team will be representing the United States at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the university announced Sunday.
According to our news partners at WBNS, the Dover, Ohio native will be a member of the Men’s Olympic Team.
In a release, OSU said Armstrong made the Olympic team in the 100-meter backstroke. He clocked his personal-best swim 52.48 in the finals Tuesday evening during the Olympic Trials in Omaha, NE.

Armstrong is the first male swimmer from OSU to make the U.S. Olympic swim team in 65 years. Ford Kono, George Onekea, Yoshi Oyakawa and Albert Wiggins represented OSU on Team U.S.A. during the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia.
The Tokyo Olympics begin July 23. Olympic swimming will run from July 24 through Aug. 1.
