CENTERVILLE — At the beginning of the month, the executive director of Hannah’s Treasure Chest in Centerville reached out to News Center 7 asking for help.
The non-profit was in dire need of donations that clothe children in need in the Miami Valley.
On Nov. 10 the racks at Hannah’s Treasure Chest were empty — now, it’s a different story.
“Look how full! This is great.” DeAnna Murphy, executive director of Hanna’s Treasure Chest said.
Thanks to Channel 7 viewers like Clark and Jan of Centerville.
“I just told Jan, those little kids can’t go cold, so we decided to do something about it,” Carl said.
The couple made a trip to Costco where they bought 41 children’s coats, plus socks and underwear from Target.
“Our community is so generous and we are overwhelmed by the donations from our community, so so thankful for the kindness,” Murphy said.
Because of record-high inflation Hannah’s Treasure Chest has received more than double the amount of donation requests compared to last year.

“So doubling that number requires a big push from our volunteers, but also from the community to ensure children have everything they need,” Murphy said.
There are still more than 300 families waiting to receive their donations.
“Our timeline’s running short. We close December 16. We do have a lot of orders to fill,” Murphy said.
“If you like to do good things, this is a good place to go...always a good feeling to help little kids...the way they do it, serving so many different partners and so many different children,” Carl and Jan said.
Murphy said the organization is still in need of larger children’s clothing, newborn clothing and winter boots.
