Teen convicted of sex crime that occurred at church function in Clark County

CLARK COUNTY — An 18-year-old will face sentencing later this month after he pleaded guilty to a sex crime involving a minor that happened at a Clark County church function.

Brandon Watkins pleaded guilty last week to a gross sexual imposition charge.

Watkins sexually assaulted a victim younger than 13 at a church function affiliated with North Hampton Community Church, 110 Community Drive, the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office said.

The specifics of the crime were not immediately available. However, as a result of Watkins’ plea, he was labeled a Tier II sexual offender, meaning he will will have to register his address with his local sheriff’s office every 180 days for the next 25 years.

Watkins is set to be sentenced on May 21 and was released under the condition that he does not have contact with the victim or unsupervised contact with any other children.
