Task force releases results for OVI checkpoint in Dayton Thursday night

DAYTON — UPDATED (Jun 26) @ 1:25 a.m.:

No OVI arrests were made stemming from a sobriety checkpoint conducted by the Combined Agency OVI Task Force of Montgomery County in Dayton Thursday night.

A total of 712 vehicles went through the checkpoint at South Smithville Road and Linden Avenue, according to the task force. Fifteen drivers were found with suspended licenses and 10 with no driver’s license. Two others were served with warrants for their arrests, officials said.

A saturation patrol in the area also made no OVI arrests, however five drivers were found with no driver’s license, eight were driving with a suspended drivers license, nine warnings were issued, and five violations, classified as “other” were issued, according to the task force.

The Combined Agency OVI Task Force will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in Dayton Thursday night, according to a spokesperson for the task force.

The task force will operate the checkpoint in the area of South Smithville Road and Linden Avenue from 8 p.m. to midnight.

The location and time of the checkpoint was announced in advance, in accordance with state law.

In addition to impaired drivers, the task force will also be looking for drivers not wearing seat belts, the spokesperson said.

Thursday’s checkpoint and other enhanced patrols during the weekend will be conducted in an effort to deter and apprehend impaired drivers.
