SPRINGBORO — More than a day after severe storms hit the Miami Valley on Monday, many were still without power as a heat wave hits the region.
As of 11 p.m. Tuesday, more than 10,000 were still without power.
News Center 7′s Haley Kosik went to a neighborhood in Springboro to speak with residents about the outages.
“We just hope Duke Energy comes soon!” Norma Stockman said.
Norma and her husband Harold live in the neighborhood and were without power for more than 24 hours.
“Well we had flickering of lights before it actually went out,” Harold said.
The last time the Stockmans were without power for this long was when remnants of Hurrican Ida passed through.
After that, they bought a generator but when they needed it most it wasn’t working.

Julie Zimmer is one of the lucky ones, her power came back the morning after the storms — but it’s no match for the heat.
“The A/C is having a tough time keeping up with the heat,” Zimmer said.
She said she had to bring her kids to the pool to cool off.
“It’s very very hot this year, I don’t remember it ever being this hot,” Zimmer said.
The Stockmans, who don’t live too far from Zimmer said with their generator falling they had to take food to their son in Monroe to store.
“Mostly meats cause those are expensive. So we packed up some ice and took it down and we had told them we were coming with it,” Norma said.
The Stockmans said they don’t know when their power is expected to be restored, but they will be sleeping in the basement in the meantime.
