Report: Washington Twp. Starbucks closes due to COVID-19 case

Starbucks drinks with cochineal extract Strawberries and Crème Frappuccinos, as well as the Strawberry Smoothies made by Starbucks now contain cochineal (Koch - uh – kneel), which is ground-up bugs used to dye things red.

WASHINGTON TWP., Montgomery County — The Starbucks location in Washington Twp. on Lyons Road near Ohio 725 has closed temporarily due to an employee testing positive for coronavirus, according to a report from the Dayton Daily News.

“We did have an employee at that location who was diagnosed and is self-isolating at home,” the spokeswoman for Starbucks told the Dayton Daily News. “I don’t have an exact date to share regarding the reopening but it will likely be this coming week.”

Starbucks locations have enhanced safety protocol in place for its stores including: enhanced cleaning measures using sanitizing products, workers completing medical pre-checks prior to shifts, facial coverings and other protocols.

It’s not clear when the store will reopen, however it was still closed Monday morning.
