INDIANA — Reid Health in Richmond announced its emergency ambulance service has expanded to include most of the Wayne County area.

In October, the Wayne County Board of Commissioners awarded Reid Health EMS a five-year contract to provide emergency ambulance service beginning in 2022, Reid Health said in a release.

The contract covers all areas of the county with the exceptions of the city of Richmond and Wayne Township, which will continue to be served by the Richmond Fire Department.

“We’re excited to continue to build upon our already-high-quality EMS program,” said Ryan Williams, Director of EMS, Forensics, and Trauma Services for Reid Health. “We look forward to providing that same great level of care to Wayne County residents in these areas in the years ahead.”

Reid Health said it began providing emergency ambulance services in 2019 when it was awarded the contract for southwestern Wayne County. Reid Health EMS has since grown to include Union County, starting service there at the beginning of 2021.

According to the release, Reid Health previously worked with Culberson Ambulance Service for nearly 52 years, but the owner, Rick Culberson, recently announced his retirement from the ambulance service.

In the eastern part of the county, Reid Health said it is taking over for Red Line EMS.
