SIDNEY — A driver crashed into a tree and was unresponsive in Sidney after possibly operating the vehicle under the influence Saturday overnight.

Sidney Police and Fire responded to an injury crash in the 400 block of East Court Street at 3:58 a.m., the city’s dispatch said.
When officers arrived on scene, they found the vehicle crashed into a tree and still in drive. The male driver remained unresponsive during police’s attempts to converse with him, first responders said over emergency scanners.
Officers proceeded to break one of the windows to stop the vehicle and stop it from smoking.
The reporting officer said the crash may have been OVI-related with the driver possibly intoxicated behind the wheel.
Medics responded to the scene; however, it was unknown if any transports to a local hospital was made.
Sidney Dispatch was unable to confirm the information heard over emergency scanners.
Sidney Police led the investigation into the crash.
