Clinton Allen, event organizer, told News Center 7′s James Rider that they did a “significant, very special program” to honor the lives lost on 9/11, 20 years later.

While paying tribute to the lives lost and impacted by the terrorist attacks on America, the event also honored essential heroes working today.

“In honor of our health care workers, the workers here at the Dayton VA who have worked tirelessly throughout this pandemic every day coming in,” Allen said.

Different area organizers from across the Miami Valley were in attendance at the Patriot Salute. Frances McGee-Cromartie, of the Daughters of American Revolution, said she wanted to take the time to honor those who may not have received some of the same levels as the first responders 20 years ago.

“Trying to honor Vietnam vets. We have a little service that we give. We realize that vets from the Vietnam era were not honored in a way that they should have been when they returned,” McGee-Cromartie said.

The event included live music, a car show and cruise-in, corn hole tournament, and food and craft vendors. The 4 Freedom Equestrian Team participated as well, allowing visitors to pet the horses, talk with the riders and learn about the role horses play in the military.
